Frequently asked questions:

How long does it take to make an urn?

The body of the urn can take an average of 3 hours to shape.  The lid takes about an hour.  After the urn has been shaped and sanded, it is cleaned off and several layers of finish are applied.  It takes about 2 hours to dry after the last coat is applied.  Styles, tools, materials and techniques vary by artist.

What size urn do I need?

For an adult around 200-250lbs a large urn is suggested.  Our artist Mika Ye has urns that average a large adult size.  Medium urns can usually hold 150lbs size cremation and less.  We recommend Scott Olson's medium and small urns for cremations near 100lbs and under.  Most columbarium niches average 12" sq ft boxes.  However, it is best to contact the business for exact measurements.  We are happy to measure any of our urns you are interested in for detailed numbers.
